The bar, located on the main floor of the Courtyard Marriot, requires patrons to pass through a phone booth or newsstand to gain access. The bar is decorated with secluded seats and plush velvet curtains to give it an elegant feel. The cocktail menu includes a mix of classics and modern creations from the folks behind the bar."

"The cool factor of this place begins the minute you try to find it. Like a traditional, old-fashioned speakeasy, this joint is hidden in the Northside District. I don't want to ruin the fun so I'll give you one direction: A door emblazoned with "Apothecary" sits next to the entrance of the Courtyard Marriott on Furnace Street. Go in there. After you enter said Apothecary, you're on your own opening the door. (It's super cool when you figure it out.)
Once inside, it's like taking a step back in time. The dimly lit space is adorned with dark features and retro furniture. Although the space is small, the U-shaped bar can seat many, while tables and booths line the walls. More often than not, Turner Classic Movies plays behind the bar and jazzy house music always fills the room."

The restaurateur - whose stable of restaurants include Dante, Ginko and Next Door in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood - will open Northside Speakeasy in the new Courtyard by Marriott on Furnace Street in downtown Akron in March."
